Screen Shot 2013-07-10 at 6.09.43 PM The second iteration of Dynamic Spin is the V3 CoolSpin, which competes directly with existing one sun mono PV solar panels with a lower Bill of Materials and more effective energy harvesting. The CoolSpin product has been designed to be “plug compatible” with existing flat panels. The CoolSpin can be made to fit existing racking and tracking products in the solar industry.

In the above design concept you see three Fresnel lenses focusing onto a rotor with six facets of PV. The rotor is spinning at approximately 300 RPM's and uses minimum power. The outer mirrors reflect off mirrors on the bottom of the unit and then back onto the bottom side of the rotor. This creates three bands of light at 120 degree offsets. Each facet moves in and out of the light so quickly that it remains excitated even when not under a band of light. This prototype is one of five identical parts that will make up a complete panel. Each panel will have one spinning rod with five rotors populated with PV and 15 lenses concentrating the light. When it production, we will make custom lenses that will require less focal depth.

The heat generated by the multiple concentrated lenses does not have enough time to transfer to the PV as it cycles out of the sunlight into the shade allowing the next piece of standard PV to go through exactly the same process, again, and again, and again. Constant cooling through Dynamic Spin creates higher power generation and longer life of the PV.
